Wow, is that a 'straight decker' I see? Man, that Laker has 1950's written all over her.

That's the Edward L. Ryerson (obviously) she was the last straight decker built, the last steam powered freighter and last lake boat to be constructed at the Manitowoc, WI shipyards. On December 12, 1998 she went into long term lay-up and remained there until early in 2006 shipping season when she was pushed into service to to high demand for shipping on the lakes. She would continue to sail until May-18-2009 when she entered Frasier Shipyards @ Superior, WI and once again went into layup and has not been out since.
