The unit was originally B&O #9034 and was one of two purchased by the Octoraro from the B&O. The other S-2 being #3, formerly B&O #9063. They were the railroad's only motive power until they purchased the TP&W RS-2's in late 1983. #4, however, only ran up until either '81 or '82, while #3 went on to run up until around 1990.
