Roseburg was on the original SP line on down to California from Portland and a very scenic rugged and steep route through the Siskyou Mountains . I think this line has been reopened as a through route through Medford and Grants Pass and Ashland ,Oregon on down to Black Butte,Ca. where it hooks up with the Cascade Line for all points south and east. The part reopened was between Ashland and Weed in Nov. 2015.
