OK, so I can understand calling up UP and telling them you want a special train with new engines at a specific location and time, but how did you get the sky to cooperate? Great pic, PCA.

Union Pacific seems to do it right. It seems that you, James, are in the right place at the right time.

I'm with Bradley, lol - though I'll bet you were both nervous and anxiously re-evaluating your ISO, speed and aperture in wait. Now, had this been 20 years ago, would you have swapped rolls of film in the camera? Great shot - right place, right time, right photographer! You've been granted an additional 15 minutes of "fame" - enjoy!

The crisp vivid colors of the small photo made my finger click on this photo to see a larger version and read the story. Various shades of gray with a vivid yellow and a splash of a dark green caught my eye. And the full size photo is much better. The bright white railing causes one to stare until the very fine detail is focused for the mind to see. So well focused the ventilation cut into the doors is seen along with every fine detail of the locomotive. My eyes keep coming back to this photo.
