Somewhere, somebody in dispatch said "No, it's their own fault they can't get three P40s to work, and no they can't have a new unit, get something old and noisy and tell 'em to stop bothering me!". 3192 looks like the cranky uncle dragging his recalcitrant nephews across the mall after they made a scene...

It looks like only two are online with the NS unit and the second P40. Never did like the P40s. Bring back the F40s. Took a trip west from Cleveland Ohio to LA in 1977 and two F40s pulled the Southwest Chief through Raton Pass with ease.

As nice as those twin-engined E units were, each prime mover had about 1000 HP...

The Es would get them there and heat that doesn't go out with the prime mover is kinda nice too. I have a video showing these things have to stop on Raton for several minutes to cool off. Guess I've seen too many Amtraks being towed in by freight power.
