Well, well, look here! A detour on the corridor, likely a NY&LB train that couldn't get to the CNJ's terminal in Jersey City.

The Aldene Plan, which diverted CNJ commuter trains to Newark Penn Station, was put into effect a year earlier. Since North Jersey Coast line trains no longer ran to the Jersey City terminal they were diverted to the Pennsylvania's mainline between Rahway and Newark.
