I love this photo, Bill. I've always had a love for the GP30. Especially this one having been built the year of my birth. I also the the quartet of C425s. Thanks for sharing.

The GP30 was the ultimate cool locomotive of the era. I was eleven years old when this unit was built, and I still recall being at a sixth grade track meet in Eau Claire, WI and noticing across the Chippewa River a CNW freight, probably train 490 rolling into town with some very weird looking road switchers rather than the usual quartet of F7s. Turned out they were GP30s, and life was never the same again.
