It's so unusual to see a single-ended diesel passenger locomotive from a European manufacturer. It appears the Americans and the Iranians have something in common after all.

The last three digits are visible on non-driving end of the second locomotive, thus confirming it is 1585.  As with our numerals, some of them are easier to read at a distance than others.  8 (in Farsi) is easy.
