Charles, with this shot, you hit me in the heart. I grew up on Burin Ave in El Nido. I went to school at El Nido Elementary and could look out a window and watch zebra striped Alco switchers and GP7/9's go past. In the summer, I (as a kid K-3rd grade) would hear the southbound whistle north of 187th St and go tearing out to the corner of Burin and 187th and watch the trains go by. Is the old bridge over the abandoned PE line still there? Oh the memories are flooding my mind. Thank you so much for posting this.
