Somewhat surprised NS hasn't found a new use for this FTB and made the museum a good offer for it.

Remarkable that it hasn't at least been stabilized. This is an extraordinarily rare and important artifact.

I'm VERY CURIOUS about the number on this unit. Was it de-powered to serve as a Steam-Generator car ? Assigned to MofW service ? Can any "Southern experts" help out here as to WHY a 6-digit number ?

I believe that is correct. I believe it was converted into a steam generator car in the shell of B unit.

It was converted into a steam-generator car by Southern.

The museum has plans to stabilize/restore it within the next few years as its deterioration has become an issue.
