What's really a shame is that the fourth main track was ripped up, and that (coincidentally) NS is "not happy with the speed" on the "Penn route" between NYC (northern NJ) and Chicago. (Not that there aren't a lot of other places where additional main tracks aren't needed.)

Nice photo of an era when the trees didn't block your view and you could gain access to trackside! There are still signals there - they are just new ones (NS style). FYI...I believe the old signals shown here are actually at the Altoona Railroader's Museum.

They can be replaced by laying down new tracks. Or maybe they shouldn't have bought out Conrail. There is no doubt they have the money. Yes, and it was nice to take photos when the right of way was kept clean.
