Back in the 80's, when the 1218 was still running, I remember a friend of mine in Gastonia named John Auten, was in love with the thing. Though a model railroader myself, I never thought much of the engine. Now though, I'm rather impressed. Still not my favorite, but I do like the look of her. Wish I could re connect with John.
