This loco was rebuilt from a former Union Pacific GP40X, hence the flared radiators.

It's a former UP GP40X, which had flared radiators.

This was originally a GP40X. It was de-turbo'd etc. and converted to a GP38-2 equivalent. I wish we had a standard nomenclature to indicate that a unit is somewhat "different".

Unit was built originally as Union Pacific GP40X #954. That is why the rads are flared. Picture of the original unit @ http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=36714&nseq=25
