Shame it's not a regular stop along the way - interesting catch. Good to see something other then passenger rail in the Bronx.

The Hunt's Point web site says the facility (on 60 acres) is "the world's largest food distribution center". Fascinating catch, Mr. Grice. Looks to me like a scene out of "Goodfellas", if the flick had been set in the 2010s and not the 1960s-70s.

Are those flowers growing at the base of the telephone pole?

Looks like a scene from a third world country...or the Bronx! The only thing missing is a Toyota pick up truck with a gun turret in the back.

This is the American version of those claustrophobic rail photos of Vietnam.

These are the sort of shots I love. Gritty, and industrious. Very nicely captured.

Great capture Greg, glad you took the effort to share this scene and area showing the makings of inner city railroad business. Not sure how comfortable I'd be waiting around for the train to show up having camera gear and the likes ;).

The purple "flowers" is the photographer's watermark.
But I'm more intrigued by the guy walking the fan.

Cool shot Greg. I'm happy to see some gritty, industrial Bronx get selected as POTW. Congratulations.

At first glance this looks more like a scene from a Third World country such as Bangladesh or Vietnam rather than the USA.

Phenomenal shot. A gritty look at the city rarely seen and seemingly a throwback to the days that rail laced all the back alleys of the Big Apple. Just great work sir!

Wow. If not for the CSX loco I would've assumed this photo was taken in India or Thailand.
