Wonder if another component of the yellowing might be any shellac or varnish it was likely coated with.

FS, you certainly could be correct. In any event I would like it if they restored it to it's original vibrant color.

The yellowing would likely be due to a number of factors. While yes, the varnish would be part of it, given the time since when the mural was painted, and today (nearly 100 years I might add), then some of those other factors would be pollution, and cigarette smoke.
