The bulk of the ~10 or so crossings left on the Shore Line are in places where areas are either completely cut off from land access should the grade crossing not exist, and eliminating the grade is physically infeasible or cost prohibitive to the amount of traffic. While there's one or two that could be eliminated, most of them aren't going anytime soon.
