Reminds me of the Long Island RR back in the "bad old days" of the 1960s-70s.

I don't know of any photo out there that so clearly shows the struggle of the railroads during that era.

This line is still in operation as part of the Metra system. Its a lot cleaner too.

As I looked at this photo for one hundredth time, it occurred to me that this is a color photograph! With this much color, i.e. the man's blue jacket, the brown box cars, and the green block signal, I can't believe that I missed that.
