Maybe its my imagination, but SOMEHOW this new station seems to bear a "family resemblance" to the Norfolk & Western "home" station in Roanoke. Just on a reduced scale.

I was about to comment, on how rather attractive this station is for an Amtrak effort, when I saw Rich's comment. Now that you mention it, I can see some of the lines that you see. As a native of Virginia, I can say how much easier it is to travel now that Regional Service has been in place for a few years.

Interesting - my first thought when I saw this station in the thumb was that someone had posted a full color nostalgic image from the 50's which featured most prominently, a brand new gas station of the times. I clicked on the thumb expecting to see an E-unit somewhere in the background.
