Plant Harlee closedin April 2015 and demolition of tall tower took place in 2016. Georgia Railroad tracks still in place but only customer on the whole branch is a quarry in Sparta. Per a conversation early in 2017, Charles Brown, the author of Railroads in Milledgeville, says there is talk that the tracks from Sparta to Milledgeville may be removed.

The line is still in place between Sparta and Milly, but horribly overgrown with vegetation. A tornado went through a couple of years ago near the hospital damaging a couple of the CSX crossings in town, and remain as such to this day.
