John, it is tough. Much of the human element that used to be so visible is missing these days, but I suppose it had to happen to stay competitive. At least some of the artifacts exist to this day, thus allowing you to share them in this great photo.

Yep, it's all about letting go, I guess; and I share your sentiments. Imagine how traumatic it must have been for many to let go of mainline steam! Personally, I am regretting the missing codelines and rapid disappearance of the road-specific signal systems and associated structures that seems to transform the right of way into bland similarity. With respect to online open offices - towers and depots - and road-specific passenger trains, don't even go there. At this point in time, some of these things seem so quaint as to be improbable. The beat goes on, as they say. Nice autumn scene, by the way.
