You're right, Sid...that was just everyday stuff "not that long ago." I don't think we fully appreciated the variety and high traffic density on this line back then, compared to today.

Looking at the discolored supports and the ground around them, it appears to have suffered fire damage at one time. Do you know what caused that discoloration?

To my knowledge there was no significant fire. This line was significantly upgraded over the the years and NS reinforced the bridges and in many cases replaced timber bents with steel. I did note that theyhad been working on this bridge recently so they may have replaced some bents. BTW the air compressor belongs to NS.
