Can you imagine the Olympian Hiawatha eastbound at 10AM and westbound at 2PM. What a view from the Super Dome that must have been.

Wow...and to think that climb started somewhere on the plain in the background (Piedmont). Long gone are the surveyors, the construction engineers, the laborers, the signal and rail gangs that maintained this railroad, and now...the actual operating people who commanded the trains that traversed this unique pass . Thank you for capturing this photo. Hoping for more. Vendome?
