Love the Challenger Class!

Maybe some day we'll see a challenger riding the rails again. Sadly it doesn't seem to even be a remote priority right now for UP Steam.

Not only is it hard to image the site of one of these operating, but I can hardly imagine what it was like to even get to Sherman Hill in 1956 with not Interstates and even fewer people in Wyoming than there is today.

Jack took an excellent photo and you did an excellent scan of it, Chris. It is great to see such high quality material from this time period. What a dramatic scene! You can tell that gritty Challenger is really hammering. Thanks for posting.

I saw a video where one of the UP Steam employees was saying that 3985 is "number 3 priority" right now, next to work on 4014 and 844, but she definitely will run again. So patience, folks. But I doubt that we'll ever see something quite this dramatic again.
