Excellent image that makes these unusual locomotives almost handsome. You can see modifications have been made to the second unit in an effort to increase the flow of cooling air into the carbody.

A classic 'Grande shot. Note the Dynamometer car trailing the lead units. The Dyno car (#10) often followed the Hydros when they were in service.

I must admit, that at first I wasn't too fond of these German built locomotives, but since seeing the Youtube video of the surviving SP that's being restored - and currently a cab control unit to power and operate/control a locomotive behind it - I've really grown to like and appreciate the look of this classic locomotive as well as liking the locomotive overall. They were/are rather unique.

You know the date, but not the photographer? Wonder where it came from. I was there that day, standing next to the photographer. I would post my photos (they are identical), but they are not good enough quality for RailPix.
