It certainly looks much different than when I took the Cardinal from there in the mid 1970s. Our arrival in DC was delayed seven hours as we sat out in the middle of nowhere with a broken-down locomotive. However, we made the best of it by trying to play cards with fellow passengers who were from Ethiopia and a Central America country. Nobody understood each other but the complimentary drinks helped ease the language barrier.

Looks a lot brighter than when I was there last. Of course the last time I was there was the late 60's on an eighteen hour layover between trains.

Thanks, Mitch. You guys are right. It is one of those places you have to experience in person to truly appreciate the vision and talent that went into its creation and restoration. I tried to capture its essence the best I could and its good to see these comments!

The good news is that in the last election the building won with a tax levy for its upkeep.
