What a waste it would be to see her Scrapped. Too hard to get parts and components when a 567 dies ?

Its not so hard to have parts but more cost and more maintenance on these older work horses. The 645 four axle market is still out there which is cheaper to maintain. Any catastrophic failure will spell the end for a locomotive, especially on G&W. G&W has been keeping good performers and repainting them, also classifying some as a -1. For example, a GP10 that G&W has overhauled may get the designation GP10-1, I personally haven't dug around to find out if any upgrades have been made. I would assume they've made some changes to the electrical systems. I'm not sure.

this unit is now sitting dead in tow in Montgomery Alabama at the CSX shops as of 11-15-15, not looking good for it's future, although they may re-build it
