How sad that such effects of volunteers have been effected by vandalism. I actually met the gentlemen who restored this once monster of the tracks, who where very passionate about Australian and Victorian railways. It is also sad that such information is only found on an American web site. When shall we remove our heads from the sand Australia and treat our heritage with respect. Remove the W class trams from East block, yes keep some but sell the rest to collectors and get our trains under cover. Not to mention the poor up keep of the trains at the so called train museum in champion road newport, you call that a museum, its a junk yard of rusted steel, go to NSW where they treat their trains with some respect, oh sorry maybe look at the good old poor USA bringing trains back from the dead to ride the tracks again for example union pacific the BIG BOY. It is easier to put our trains in the ground and buy new chinese locos. Its all about money money money...... Don't see any large train company in Australia sponsoring a resoration project..
