Hi Eugene from New Zealand! This is a stunning shot - probably the most dramatic photo of a Transnet train I've seen. I see you're not a drive-in photographer! Do you have any photos of other viaducts, particularly the massive viaduct with arches on one of the coal lines which may be even higher than the viaduct in your photo. This line looks to be of quite recent construction. Do you know when this line was built? The other location I want to see is Hex River Tunnel (2nd longest in southern hemisphere opened I recall in 1989 - Is this perhaps on same line?)

Thanks John! The Hex River tunnel is near Cape Town on the main line between that city and Johannesburg. This shot was taken on the main line between Johannesburg and Durban, almost at the opposite end of the country. I have not yet visited the coal line between Vryheid and Richards Bay. The Orex line (Ore Export) between Sishen and Saldanha in the western part of the country has a kilometre long bridge across the Olifants (Elephant) river, but as far as I know, it is not as high as the bridge in this shot.
