What the heck? The CN logo/number seem to be recently applied to an older paint scheme that I don't recognize. Anyone know the (former) identity of this unit?

Malcom, this is the EMDX Demonstrator scheme, just with a CN logo. I think it looks pretty sharp!

The unit in question is either former EMDX 1206 or 1208. CN bought the 2 locomotives from EMDX and left the paint scheme on, just applying the decals.

Malcolm: it's a former EMD demo unit. That's the current EMD/Progress Rail demo paint scheme. Great shot, Mike. That poor little bridge almost looks like it's sagging under the weight of the locomotive!

E M D demo paint scheme

It was an EMD Demonstrator for the SD70ACe-P6 model and it's number was either EMDX 1206 or 1208.

It appears to be one of the former EMDX demonstrators, either 1207 or 2012.

I believe that CN unit is an Ex-EMD Demo SD70ACe.

@Malcolm Cunningham it's either Ex-EMDX 1206 or 1208

I like the picture! It's the mundane, the simple, the ordinary, but it's just like many such places where I've stopped and smelled the creosote, listened to the wood creak and moan as a heavy train slowly rolled overhead. There's something about it that is really very special. I can't remember how many times I passed up a picture of a wooden trestle, because they were too ordinary. Now, most of the ones I knew have been replaced by REALLY ordinary concrete structures, and I wish I had pictures of those old timber bridges.

They should call this the "Electro-Noodle" scheme!

I kinda like the paint it is in. I seriously hope CN keeps it in this paint job...

The paint scheme on this unit looks great! CN should keep it as long as possible. The whole Akin Junction "Y" is the same way with a total of three bridges, all pretty old wood and really low to boot! I know exactly what you mean with the smell of cresote in the summer time! I have watched trains there ever since I was in high school!
