The bridge piers carried the West Shore over the Central here until 1957, when New York Central abandoned the West Shore from Chili to Oakfield, in conjunction with the new Buffalo Terminal including Frontier yard. Prior to that the West Shore served as main tracks 5 and 6, but only in practice. It can be seen in the NYC trilogy (The Freight Yard, The Steam Locomotive and The Railroad Signal) films from the 1940's, thanks to Ed Nowak's knowledge of the area and it's... "plain scenery that would not distract the viewer looking at a train or a signal".
