Looks like NS 9914 has taken a tumble off the track somewhere. Whit front and rear end damage, it would be interesting to know what happened.

Let me make a spelling correction ! where it says whit front and rear end damage, should say 'with front end and rear end damage' not 'whit'

Looks like the car shop rigged up some freight car trucks with locomotive bolster to put under it. No springs under it either. I hope these are for shop moves only!

By the look of the locomotive's condition, I'd say that it will be scrapped. The batteries have been pulled, as well as some vital electrical components from below and behind the cab boxes, and it looks like the fuel tank has had the gauges and mechanical components removed - i.e. the pumps sending the fuel to the prime mover under the hood. Also the red painted warnings for "Do Not Enter!" above the "Thoroughbred" logo on the nose and the "Do Not Board" on either side of the horse logo, plus on the step mounts, give indication that it is really unsafe to even stand near it. Whatever accident or force damaged and destroyed this locomotive, it sure was strong enough to make it scrap metal! I can safely say this truly IS a "Trash 9"!

@Dana: The 9914 was out running on the NS a year later.

Fuel pumps are under the hood on the cond. side. the frame looks straight, probably just needs a new cab, new rad. cab., and various other sheet metal work. Looks a lot worse than it really is.
