Hmmmm. I always THOUGHT Gainesville Midland was a Southern subsidiary and thus, would logically, have been folded into Norfolk Southern. Guess not.

To my understanding, it was independent until 1959 when Seaboard took it over. It never was a Southern subsidiary. Thanks for the comment!

GM had a diesel lettered for it. It was a straight SD40, no dynamic brakes and was originally painted in SAL colors, it never got SCL or Family Lines paint, the best I can tell. It did get Seaboard System. I don't think it lasted into CSX.
