I guess from the "stuffed and mounted" that this shunter (English for switcher!) is not in working order! I would imagine the switching operations would be a little difficult when operating 'forward' due the the full height hood. And what is hiding behind the tree! Interesting photo, also like the older style SF livery .

I never get tired of visiting the Barstow Amtrak station and seeing this locomotive and the UP SD40-2 sitting behind. Sadly, as Harvey says, they are stuffed and mounted but you can still enjoy them by climbing on board and imagining what it was like to operate these beasts. You can also enjoy the BNSF Barstow classification yards in front of the station and watch trains come down from Cajon Pass all day long.
