I wish they would get tunnel clearances done so they can extend the Auto Train to NYC. Driving all the way through D.C. kind of devalues the service, since you have to do the worst part of the whole drive just to get to the train!

Isn't that train over 30+ cars long? And they use only TWO P42's? The ruling grade for that run must be very little, nothing like out here in the southwest where it takes two units for a regular Southwest Chief of around 10 cars and an additional engine if a couple more cars are included. I remember the old Desert Wind through Las Vegas needed one engine for 5 cars or less, and another if there were 6 or more.
