Without reading anything, I thought "Westbound at Vendome" (Montana). Sure enough, there is a photo in OGR Forum captioned "Vendome" that matches the two mountains above the Little Joe.
This is an excellent catch- I had to settle for diesels at Vendome.

The train is westbound. The shadows are cast by a sun in the southern sky. That being south, east, west & north are obvious.
