Your photo captures very much what I remember as a young railfan. There is a real grittiness to your work that takes me back to those days of the locals.

Ah, David, this local isn't just rolling thru Auburn. It is passing over the most interesting track structure in the little college town. A crossover just west of the depot. A crossover located perhaps 20 car lengths from the east end of the siding. And a crossover largely installed to serve that track in the foreground that leads to the old "coal" trestle where many a 40 foot, friction journal coal load was unloaded to power the steam plant at Auburn University. Thanks for another memory lane trip !

It's downright intricate compared to the current plant. I don't think there is a switch/siding/whatever until the industrial park near Webster Road to the south, and the Opelika passing track to the north. Amazing, but not in a good way.
