The dents in the fuel tank have been there since Conrail days, at least 1984:

The fuel tank appears to be manufactured that way and not damaged. Use a magifying glass and take a closer look at the tank and you will see the difference. No damage-built that way.

Too bad the fuel tank dents couldn't have been easily fixed as well, but that is still a very sharp looking unit.

There's no way it was "built that way". Those are obviously from a sideswipe incident. It didn't have them in its PC days...
