It may say "Southern" on the tender, but it has Canadian Pacific Royal Hudson written all over it, including the crown on the front.

Considering she was operating on the Southern Railway's steam program at the time, she was a "Southern" engine. However, I agree with your statement.

The first car in the consist was referred to as the "recording car" and was used by those wanting to record the Steam Locomotive sounds. This same car started operating on the Central of Georgia's Nancy Hanks passenger trains. I do remember riding in this car on several fan trips. This reminds me that taking on-board recordings behind Steam is just another thing made harder with diesels tucked in behind the steamers.

Bill, I spent some time in that car as well on trips out of Alexandria. I believe the car was later called "Man O' War."
