Doesn't "Hi Line" refer to the former Great Northern mainline, rather than this former Northern Pacific line? Fine shot of this impressive structure, though!

From what I can gather, it was originally called the "High Bridge" but is now commonly referred to as the "Hi-Line." Even Valley City's junior high/high school teams are called the "Hi-Liners." I've changed my original remarks to include the hyphenated spelling.

The Hi-Line name for this bridge is certainly appropriate and widely used among North Dakotans. I'm a ND native and can fully attest! To better appreciate this naming of the trestle, you can still easily observe the grade of the original NoPac right-of-way going into the valley (downtown Valley City) on both the east and west ends of town. The "Hi-Line," in the case for this trestle, makes the obvious distinction between both routes through Valley City, since both were in regular service for several years.
