The track on the storage lead past the switch was taken out of service for about a month because it was so bad the MoW could not guarantee a derailment wouldn't happen. To fix the problem, they replaced a couple dozen ties, to maintain gauge... No ballast to speak of, so no tamping was done, therefore it bends the rails worse even with brand new ties! Two of the ties they inserted broke a week after they were placed. But because they only use the track for short term industry storage, they are not interested in rehabilitating the tracks. If something breaks, they'll fix it afterwards.
