Just beside the active railroad right-of-way seems to be a vacant right of way with nothing on it? I'm curios as to what it is. Great shot! London is a bowl of spaghetti when it comes to railway lines intersecting!

I'm not entirely sure what the vacant trackbed is for, but it looks like it has recently been relaid. There's a lot going on in London at the moment with the Crossrail project and enhancements to the Overground system.

The new leg is to the junction is part of the Thameslink 2000 project and is intended to improve capacity through the junction which is a notorious bottleneck.
