Anyone have some more info on this train?

I know this stretch well. This is the north end of Bedford County. The Former N&W mainline runs through the center of the county and the Virginian traverses the south side of the county. I am also a native of Bedford County Va.

You certainly don't find yourself thinking about N&W steam on the C&O very often, but it did happen several times back in the "good old days" of steam excursions. This certainly would never be a possibility with present day CSX and their uncooperative outlook on steam. Great shot and thanks for posting!

Sid, your wonderful photo is VERY similar to large N&W prints of the "Powhatan Arrow" from the 1950's. The N&W image nearly identical-- the river and farmland in the background, the code lines, the curve of the train behind the J, the trees rising behind the locomotive, even the sun angle and glint are nearly the same. Both your photo and the N&W publicity image are handsome tributes to the beautiful J's! A wonderful catch; thank you for sharing. PCA.
