They MUST have also changed the interior of the cab around too, as LIRR considered the long-hood end to be the "Front."

For a view of this unit as LIRR #208, see RPN #200646. Unique to LIRRS C-420s was the "smokelifter", flat steel panels angled upward and located approx midway on the long hood on the engineeers side. Their intent was to create an updraft , when running forward, that would keep the traditional "Alco smoke" out of the engineers view and out of the cab. This photo also shows the long hood end clearly marked "F."
