These units were very useful to the Maine Central. Add to it the fact a few lasted long enough to be among the last U25Bs running in regular service. It was bizarre to see them prior to their being repainted at places like Bangor, Rigby yard and Waterville still in Rock Island's maroon, red or final blue schemes. Fortunately, they were to look quite good in MEC's almost gold yellow, with green accents.
