Can see on pilot where either buffers or poling pockets were. I think, don't bet the grandkids on it, unless they're brats, but I think the locos completed to go to Russia had buffers as well as knuckle couplers.

Still glad this locomotive and its "brothers" (sorry, I still think of these with their strength as masculine rather than feminine, and better "brothers" than "comrades") wore orange and not "red".

Nice angle on an iconic and handsome locomotive type with an interesting history. I wish I could have got to see these beasts in their heyday dragging heavy freights west over the rockies!
