Am I seeing correctly but are they using 2 engines per train. The consist to the right of the picture has a lead and a rear engine. Can't these engines handle 8+ cars.

@j.alvarez This is probably so the train don't need to be turned on a wye. Amtrak does this also when a wye isn't available at a trains final destination.

So really they are doing this just to make the consist look GOOD. I mean, NJTransit uses them as Push, Pull service and they don't care about the look.

The purpose of the 2 locomotives is just because they are in testing , so if they have a problem whit one loco they will have the other one as a spare , none of those units where in service from the derailment on one of the first units the took service at the Central Station in Montreal on CN tracks .
