The L & N had two styles of home built cabooses, the "little woodies" and the "big woodies". the cupola was approximately the same for both types, but the length an height of the types were very different.The cab pictured here is a "big woody".

In addition, 1240 has a green "section" class flag in the holder on the brakeman's side. Very nice catch, David !
