Directly above the "danger high voltage" sign, is this switchers air operated Bell Valve. I have seen many locomotive bells for sale on the internet, but have yet to see the bell valve offered for sale, either by it's self or paired with a bell. With that said I consider myself to have been very blessed to have been given the chance to locally purchase both a Louisville & Nashville brass diesel bell and the operating valve which came with it. When I started to work on the bell I found that the air operated clapper mechanism was a fairly new replacement with hardly any wear at all. I did have to wait about fifteen years to purchase the pair as I had asked the owner for "First Dibs", and he did remember my asking. I have spent many hours removing heavy black paint and sanding out casting flaws, but now I have a beautiful bell which just needs mounting and an air supply. When I ring my bell under air for the first time I fully intend to use it's air valve.
