Wow...a whole yard full of executives. Wonderful shot Mr. Danneman, and thank you for sharing your pictures.

I was up here in 2002 and had hit the Sand Hills Sub at Thedford. I then drove west on Hwy 2 for 100 miles without seeing a single train, until I realised there'd been a work window which cleared at about 3:30pm. The ensuing parade of stacked-up eastbounds from then on was quite astonishing with over 30 trains passing through town in the next six hours!

The trains were shorter too! Look at that section track and old yard configuration, the runaround as it exists now wasn't even built yet. Very nice photo with the SD70MACs looking brand new and a promising time for coal. In contrast now, the SD70MACs are parked in the south yard replaced by orange and black.

I know times have changed and there's a good reason for the absence of the logo, but I wish the units wearing that paint scheme still sported the "BN" on the nose. The round herald is decent, but I thought the BN looked great! Then there are the ones with the blank noses...blah.

@ Jim: Your wish seems to have come true? Not sure what good reason there ever could be on not having a logo. I'm a fan of the BN logo but the circular was neat as it was reminiscent of the older railroad logos. Had a more nostalgic feel to it. Nice catch, Mike.
