Remote being the operative word for sure! I've been to that location several times and will not forget the first time I drove on that dirt road from the Old Route 66 that takes you from east Crookton to Double A. You'd better take your time and have a high-profile vehicle with good tires. I was very glad when I trusted my maps and ventured into the cutoff from Ash Fork via the Double A Road. It was a great deal smoother. Great photo and worth the effort. I'm guessing it's location is the first "S" curve about 5 miles after the Route 66 bridge, between East Crookton and West Eagles Nest. Is it?

Yes, very rough road. We drove in from the old highway bridge to get to Eagle Nest. At Eagle nest the road was in very poor shape and we had to fill in some holes with big, flat rocks to get through.
